Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicle safely and efficiently for deliveries.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries within Kellits, Clarendon, and surrounding areas.
- Load, unload, prepare, inspect, and operate a delivery vehicle.
- Deliver a wide variety of items to different addresses and through various routes.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and vehicle inspection records.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring roadworthiness.
- Ensure cleanliness and basic maintenance of the company vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company safety policies.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, customers, and team members.
- Handle packages with care and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery.
- Resolve customer queries or issues professionally and promptly, enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or mechanical issues immediately to management.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Jamaican GDL, appropriate classes for light commercial vehicles).
- Proven working experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role for at least 2 years.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet delivery schedules.
- Good driving record with no major traffic violations.
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) safely.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with local routes and geography in Kellits, Clarendon, and surrounding areas.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
- Proficiency in using GPS devices and navigation applications.
