As a Painter – Construction Finishing & Maintenance, you will be an integral part of projects ranging from new build developments to refurbishment and routine property upkeep. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare various surfaces (walls, ceilings, woodwork, metalwork) for painting by scraping, sanding, priming, and filling cracks/holes.
- Mix and match paints, stains, and varnishes to achieve desired colours and textures, ensuring consistency across projects.
- Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, adhering to specified safety and quality standards.
- Perform minor plastering, patching, and drywall repair as needed before painting.
- Inspect finished surfaces to ensure high quality, even coverage, and no imperfections, carrying out touch-ups where necessary.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding or other access equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cleaned and stored.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and project managers to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients on-site, maintaining a professional demeanour.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Painter in construction or maintenance roles.
- Proficiency in surface preparation techniques, including cleaning, sanding, filling, and priming.
- Expertise in applying various types of paint, varnish, and finishes using different methods (brush, roller, spray gun).
- Strong understanding of paint types, their properties, and appropriate application for different surfaces.
- Excellent colour matching and aesthetic judgment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform demanding tasks, including standing, bending, and lifting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to painting and construction sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Painting and Decorating.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience with specialist coatings or decorative finishes.
- Familiarity with working on both residential and commercial properties.
