This role is crucial for ensuring the high-quality finish and ongoing aesthetic maintenance of various residential and commercial properties. As a Painter – Construction Finishing & Maintenance, you will be an integral part of projects ranging from new build developments to refurbishment and routine property upkeep. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare various surfaces (walls, ceilings, woodwork, metalwork) for painting by scraping, sanding, priming, and filling cracks/holes.
  • Mix and match paints, stains, and varnishes to achieve desired colours and textures, ensuring consistency across projects.
  • Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, adhering to specified safety and quality standards.
  • Perform minor plastering, patching, and drywall repair as needed before painting.
  • Inspect finished surfaces to ensure high quality, even coverage, and no imperfections, carrying out touch-ups where necessary.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding or other access equipment safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cleaned and stored.
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and project managers to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients on-site, maintaining a professional demeanour.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Painter in construction or maintenance roles.
  • Proficiency in surface preparation techniques, including cleaning, sanding, filling, and priming.
  • Expertise in applying various types of paint, varnish, and finishes using different methods (brush, roller, spray gun).
  • Strong understanding of paint types, their properties, and appropriate application for different surfaces.
  • Excellent colour matching and aesthetic judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform demanding tasks, including standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to painting and construction sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Painting and Decorating.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience with specialist coatings or decorative finishes.
  • Familiarity with working on both residential and commercial properties.
