We are actively seeking a highly talented and experienced Architect – Building Design & Planning to join their collaborative team based in the vibrant community of Meersbrook, Sheffield. This presents an exceptional opportunity for a creative, detail-oriented, and ambitious professional to take a pivotal role in the design and seamless delivery of exciting new developments. The successful candidate will be instrumental in navigating all stages of the architectural process. This includes leading initial concept development and conducting thorough feasibility studies, progressing through detailed design phases, expertly preparing and submitting planning applications, and ultimately producing comprehensive construction documentation. You will be expected to bring a strong aesthetic vision, a keen eye for detail, and a robust technical understanding, coupled with a comprehensive grasp of current building regulations, planning policies, and all relevant statutory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage architectural projects from concept through to completion, adhering to project timelines and budgets.
- Develop detailed design solutions, preparing drawings, specifications, and schedules for various building types.
- Prepare and submit planning applications, liaising with local authorities and other statutory bodies.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site analysis, and master planning exercises.
- Ensure all designs comply with UK Building Regulations, national standards, and relevant legislation.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams to achieve project goals.
- Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and contributing to design excellence.
- Oversee construction phases, conducting site visits and resolving design-related queries.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the overall development of the design team.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in industry-standard software: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK Building Regulations, Planning Policy, and CDM Regulations.
- Demonstrable experience across all RIBA Plan of Work stages.
- Exceptional design flair, strong aesthetic judgment, and technical detailing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and client engagement abilities.
- Proven project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- ARB registration and RIBA Chartered membership.
- Master's degree in Architecture or a related discipline.
- Experience with sustainable design principles (e.g., BREEAM, Passivhaus) and low-carbon design strategies.
- Proficiency in additional rendering software (e.g., V-Ray, Enscape, Lumion).
- Track record of successful project delivery in residential, commercial, or public sector architecture.
