Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily mucking out and stall maintenance to ensure a clean and hygienic environment for horses.
  • Prepare and distribute feed and fresh water according to established feeding schedules and dietary requirements.
  • Safely turn out and bring in horses from paddocks, ensuring their well-being and security.
  • Assist with grooming, bathing, and basic horse handling, always prioritizing safety and gentle care.
  • Monitor horses for any signs of injury, illness, or behavioral changes and report observations promptly to management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of stable areas, tack rooms, and feed rooms, including sweeping and tidying.
  • Assist with general barn upkeep, including minor repairs and maintenance of stable equipment.
  • Handle laundry duties related to horse blankets, wraps, and stable textiles.
  • Provide support during veterinary visits or farrier appointments as needed, ensuring horses are calm and cooperative.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience working with horses in a stable or similar equine environment.
  • Strong understanding of horse behavior, safety protocols, and basic equine care practices.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and repetitive movements associated with mucking.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent observational skills and a keen eye for detail regarding horse health and stable conditions.
  • Proficiency in English or German for effective communication within the team and with management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous professional stable hand experience at a riding school, livery yard, or breeding facility.
  • Basic knowledge of equine first aid and emergency procedures.
  • Familiarity with various types of horse feed, supplements, and their appropriate administration.
  • Valid driver's license (Class B) for potential errands or transport needs.
