This is a pivotal role for a leader passionate about optimizing supply chain operations, driving efficiency, and ensuring seamless freight movement. As the Logistics Supervisor, you will be at the helm of our daily freight activities, responsible for overseeing a dedicated team, managing complex logistics processes, and implementing strategies that enhance our service delivery and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the freight division, including scheduling, dispatching, and tracking shipments.
  • Manage and mentor a team of logistics coordinators and support staff, fostering a productive and positive work environment.
  • Optimize transportation routes and methods to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and company safety standards.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., sales, warehousing) and external partners (e.g., carriers, vendors) to ensure smooth operations.
  • Resolve operational issues, customer complaints, and shipment discrepancies efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports on logistics activities, performance, and expenditures.
  • Implement and enforce best practices for freight management, inventory control, and supply chain security.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management, specifically within freight operations.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of motivating and developing staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in logistics software, TMS (Transportation Management Systems), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of freight regulations, safety standards, and customs procedures (if applicable).
  • Ability to analyze data and implement strategies for continuous operational improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CTL).

  • Familiarity with the Sacramento area's transportation network and regulations.
