Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and skilled Civil Engineer with a strong background in both design and construction to join our expanding team in Vacoas, Vacoas-Phoenix. This pivotal role involves contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects, encompassing residential, commercial, and public infrastructure developments across Mauritius. You will be instrumental in all project phases, from initial conceptualization and detailed design to on-site supervision and final handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments for proposed projects.
  • Develop detailed engineering designs, plans, and specifications for civil infrastructure (roads, drainage, foundations, structural elements) using CAD and relevant software.
  • Perform structural calculations, hydraulic analyses, and material selections in accordance with industry standards and local regulations.
  • Prepare tender documents, bills of quantities, and cost estimates for various project components.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within financial parameters.
  • Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, subcontractors, government agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate project progress and resolve technical issues.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, material submissions, and method statements from contractors.
  • Prepare regular project reports, progress updates, and technical documentation.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design and construction.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SAP2000, ETABS, or similar design software.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis, geotechnical principles, and hydraulic design.
  • In-depth knowledge of Mauritian building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license or equivalent professional accreditation (e.g., CEng).
  • Experience with sustainable design principles and green building certifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading small to medium-sized construction projects.
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6).
