Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with mobility, personal care, and comfort needs as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Monitor and record vital signs, report observations to nurses or doctors, and assist with basic health assessments.
- Prepare and maintain clinical areas, ensuring cleanliness, sterilization, and proper stock levels of medical supplies.
- Support clinicians during examinations and procedures, handling instruments and maintaining patient comfort.
- Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients and their families.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as patient registration, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and patient confidentiality policies.
- Assist in the preparation and serving of light refreshments if required, ensuring dietary needs are met.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Healthcare Assistant or similar role (minimum 1 year).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong empathy and a patient-centred approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Proficiency in English and French (Creole is a plus).
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks with care and attention.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Healthcare Assistance, Nursing Aid, or a related field.
- First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience working in a clinic or outpatient setting.
- Knowledge of local health regulations and practices in Mauritius.
