Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcome and greet all guests upon their arrival and departure, offering immediate assistance with luggage.
  • Efficiently and safely transport guest luggage to and from rooms, vehicles, and storage areas.
  • Provide comprehensive support to the front desk team, including answering guest inquiries, offering directions, and providing local recommendations for Kelham Island and wider Sheffield attractions.
  • Assist guests with general requests, such as calling taxis, making reservations, and delivering messages or amenities.
  • Maintain a professional, tidy, and welcoming appearance of the hotel lobby, entrance, and luggage storage areas.
  • Proactively anticipate guest needs and offer assistance before being asked, demonstrating exceptional foresight and service.
  • Adhere strictly to all hotel security, health and safety policies, and procedures, ensuring a safe environment for both guests and colleagues.
  • Handle guest complaints or issues with professionalism and escalate to management when necessary.
  • Support the concierge services, helping guests with information on transportation, dining, and entertainment options.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a customer service or guest-facing role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy luggage repeatedly.
  • Impeccable personal presentation and professional attitude.
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Basic knowledge of the Kelham Island area and Sheffield city centre is beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to guest satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Hotel Porter or in a similar hospitality role.
  • Experience working in a 4-star or 5-star hotel environment.
  • Knowledge of multiple languages is a distinct advantage.
  • Valid UK driving license (if valet parking services are occasionally required).
