Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough MOT inspections on various classes of vehicles in accordance with DVSA standards.
  • Perform detailed vehicle compliance checks, identifying defects and potential safety hazards.
  • Accurately record inspection findings, maintaining comprehensive digital and physical documentation.
  • Provide clear and professional explanations to vehicle owners regarding inspection results and necessary repairs.
  • Advise on appropriate corrective actions and re-testing procedures as required.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the workshop.
  • Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment and workshop tools to high standards.
  • Stay updated with the latest DVSA regulations, vehicle technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workshop environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth workflow and customer satisfaction.

Required Skills

  • DVSA Accredited MOT Tester (Classes 4, 5, 7 minimum)
  • Proven experience as a Vehicle Inspector or MOT Tester
  • Excellent knowledge of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics, and automotive systems
  • Strong understanding of current MOT test procedures and compliance regulations
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspections
  • Ability to accurately identify and diagnose vehicle faults
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and workshop equipment
  • Valid UK driving license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced technical qualifications in Automotive Engineering or Mechanics (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or higher)
  • Experience with a variety of vehicle makes and models
  • Familiarity with digital inspection systems and workshop management software
  • Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in automotive technologies or compliance
  • Customer service experience within the automotive sector
