Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary and specialist medical care to patients of all ages.
  • Conduct thorough patient consultations, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
  • Accurately diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and other health conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medication and referring to specialists when necessary.
  • Manage and monitor chronic disease conditions, promoting preventative care and health education.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records in compliance with professional standards and GDPR.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative staff.
  • Participate in clinical governance activities, audits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all relevant clinical guidelines, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GMC guidance).
  • Engage in continuous professional development to maintain and enhance clinical knowledge and skills.

Required Skills

  • Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent)
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice or relevant specialty, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a GP or Specialist Doctor within the NHS or similar healthcare system.
  • Exceptional diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively.
  • Proficiency in electronic patient record systems.
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership of a Royal College (e.g., RCGP, Royal College of Physicians) or equivalent specialist body.
  • Additional postgraduate qualifications or diplomas in relevant specialist areas (e.g., women's health, minor surgery, diabetes care).
  • Experience in medical education, supervision, or mentoring of junior doctors.
  • Familiarity with local health initiatives and community services in Nottinghamshire.
  • Experience with quality improvement projects and clinical audit.
