Key Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Assist customers in locating products, answering their questions, and making informed purchasing decisions.
  • Provide detailed and accurate product information, demonstrating features and benefits where appropriate.
  • Process sales transactions efficiently and accurately using Point of Sale (POS) systems, handling cash, credit/debit card, and mobile payments.
  • Ensure accuracy in till operations, including opening and closing procedures and daily reconciliations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor, fitting rooms, and stock areas at all times.
  • Replenish stock on shelves and displays regularly, ensuring proper stock rotation and appealing visual merchandising.
  • Assist with inventory management tasks, including receiving deliveries, ticketing products, conducting stock counts, and identifying discrepancies.
  • Proactively resolve customer complaints, concerns, and inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency.
  • Actively promote current sales, special promotions, and loyalty programs to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily sales targets and overall operational goals.
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies and procedures, including health, safety, and security guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a customer service role, preferably within a retail or sales environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse customer groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and remain calm in a fast-paced, high-volume, and customer-centric environment.
  • Basic mathematical skills for accurate transaction processing and cash handling.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to flexible working hours, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
  • A positive, energetic attitude and a proactive, problem-solving approach.
  • Proficiency in both English and French is essential, given the local context of Mauritius.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous hands-on experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems and retail software.
  • Basic understanding of retail merchandising principles and visual display techniques.
  • Possession of a Secondary Education Certificate (Form 5 / School Certificate or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in additional local languages, such as Mauritian Creole, would be an asset.
