Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Social Worker to join our dedicated Family & Community team in Bulwell, Nottingham. This pivotal role involves working directly with children, young people, and their families, providing essential support, conducting comprehensive assessments, and developing person-centred care plans that promote safety, well-being, and positive outcomes. You will be instrumental in safeguarding vulnerable individuals, advocating for their needs, and empowering families to build resilience and achieve their full potential within their communities.

You will manage a varied caseload, undertake statutory duties under relevant legislation, and collaborate closely with multi-agency partners, including health, education, and third-sector organisations, to ensure holistic and coordinated support. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children, young people, and families to identify needs, risks, and strengths.
  • Develop, implement, and review person-centred care plans in collaboration with families and other professionals.
  • Undertake safeguarding duties, including responding to referrals, conducting investigations, and initiating child protection procedures when necessary.
  • Provide direct support, advice, and guidance to families, promoting their well-being and independent living.
  • Advocate for the rights and interests of service users, ensuring their voices are heard and considered.
  • Liaise and collaborate effectively with multi-agency partners, including schools, health services, police, and housing associations.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential case records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and professional development opportunities to enhance practice.
  • Prepare reports and present findings to various panels, courts, and conferences as required.
  • Respond to crisis situations and provide immediate support to families in urgent need.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
  • Demonstrable experience working with children, young people, and families in a statutory social work setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures (e.g., Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children).
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage complex caseloads, and prioritise effectively under pressure.
  • Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and cultural sensitivity.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car for community visits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-qualifying experience in family and community social work.
  • Experience in court work and preparing legal reports.
  • Familiarity with local services and resources in Bulwell and Nottingham.
  • Experience with restorative practice or systemic family therapy approaches.
