Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and passionate Butcher and Meat Preparation Specialist to join one of our esteemed clients in the vibrant culinary scene of Beau Bassin, Rose Hill. As a Butcher, you will be an integral part of a team dedicated to providing fresh, premium meat products and an outstanding customer experience.

Your role will involve the full spectrum of butchery operations, from receiving and inspecting meat deliveries to preparing various cuts, sausages, and other meat products. We are looking for someone who can expertly handle a range of meats including beef, lamb, poultry, and pork, ensuring optimal presentation and minimizing waste. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and store meat deliveries according to strict health and safety guidelines.
  • Expertly cut, trim, bone, grind, and portion various types of meat (beef, lamb, pork, poultry).
  • Prepare a wide range of meat products, including sausages, marinades, and specialty cuts.
  • Operate and maintain butchery equipment safely and efficiently, including saws, grinders, and slicers.
  • Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the butchery area at all times.
  • Monitor and manage meat inventory, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, offering advice on meat selection, preparation, and cooking methods.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety regulations and company policies.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and assist with other duties as required.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Butcher or Meat Preparation Specialist.
  • In-depth knowledge of different meat cuts, their uses, and preparation techniques.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP principles).
  • Proficiency in using butchery tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Excellent knife skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical stamina to lift heavy cuts of meat and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certification or diploma in Butchery or Culinary Arts.
