Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and engaging Barista Café Attendant to join our dynamic team at Chukwani Beach Hotel. As a Barista Café Attendant, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality coffee and other beverages, serving light snacks, and ensuring every guest enjoys a delightful experience. You will be an integral part of our café operations, interacting directly with guests, maintaining cleanliness, and helping to uphold our high standards of service. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee beverages (espresso, latte, cappuccino, etc.), teas, fresh juices, and other drinks according to hotel standards.
- Operate coffee equipment, including grinders, espresso machines, and blenders, ensuring proper maintenance and cleanliness.
- Provide exceptional customer service, taking orders accurately, handling payments, and engaging with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting café environment, including workstation, seating areas, and display cases.
- Monitor and replenish inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and other supplies, notifying management of stock needs.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards and regulations.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately, managing the till and reconciling daily sales.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures for the café.
- Upsell and recommend menu items to enhance the guest experience.
- Collaborate effectively with other team members to ensure smooth service operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a barista or café attendant, preferably in a hotel or high-volume café setting.
- Excellent knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and equipment operation.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic mathematical skills for cash handling and order processing.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- A positive attitude and a passion for hospitality.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 15 kg.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in barista training or food safety.
- Proficiency in latte art.
- Knowledge of local Swahili language.
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Familiarity with various coffee beans and brewing methods.
