Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on various marine vessels, including engines (diesel/petrol, inboard/outboard), transmissions, and steering systems.
- Perform routine maintenance, preventative care, and major repairs on boat engines, propulsion systems, and related components.
- Conduct electrical system diagnostics and repairs, including wiring, navigation equipment, communication systems, and auxiliary power units.
- Execute fiberglass and hull repairs, painting, and cosmetic restoration, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.
- Install, service, and repair plumbing systems, bilge pumps, sanitation systems, and other on-board amenities.
- Order and manage parts inventory necessary for repairs, ensuring timely completion of projects.
- Maintain accurate records of all services performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and environmental regulations in all repair and maintenance activities.
- Provide technical advice and support to clients, explaining repair procedures and maintenance recommendations clearly and professionally.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Marine Technician or Boat Mechanic
- Strong knowledge of marine engine systems (outboard and inboard, diesel and petrol)
- Proficiency in marine electrical systems and troubleshooting
- Experience with hydraulic systems and steering mechanisms
- Skilled in fiberglass repair and hull maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and software relevant to marine engines
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized marine technical institution (e.g., ABYC, NMEA)
