Job Description

We are actively seeking a diligent and organized Part-Time Warehouse Stock Handler to join our dynamic team at the Zanzibar Ocean View Resort & Convention Centre. This crucial role is instrumental in maintaining the efficiency and smooth flow of our resort’s extensive inventory, covering everything from kitchen provisions and beverage supplies to linens, toiletries, and operational equipment. As a Warehouse Stock Handler, you will be responsible for the meticulous receiving, storing, picking, and dispatching of goods, ensuring that all departments within the resort have the necessary items to operate seamlessly.

This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to accuracy, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be a vital part of our back-of-house operations, directly contributing to the high-quality service our guests expect and deserve. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming goods, verifying quantities against purchase orders and inspecting for damages or discrepancies.
  • Accurately sort, label, and store inventory items in designated warehouse locations, ensuring optimal organization.
  • Execute picking and packing tasks efficiently based on requisitions from various resort departments (e.g., kitchen, housekeeping, F&B).
  • Prepare items for dispatch, ensuring they are correctly counted and securely loaded for internal distribution.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and assist in maintaining accurate stock records to minimize losses and optimize stock levels.
  • Operate basic material handling equipment safely (e.g., pallet jacks) after receiving appropriate training.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the warehouse, adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
  • Report any inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, or safety concerns to the Warehouse Supervisor promptly.
  • Assist in the periodic auditing of inventory and participate in stock reconciliation processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure timely and accurate supply of goods.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a warehouse, storekeeping, or inventory management role.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills for counting, recording, and reading instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Familiarity with inventory management principles is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a hospitality or resort environment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for data entry (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
  • Knowledge of inventory control software or systems.
  • Certification in operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack) is a plus.
