Job Description

The Oil & Gas Field Technician at Career.zycto plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of critical infrastructure within the energy sector. Based in Mainz City, you will be on the front lines, responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various mechanical, electrical, and instrumental systems associated with oil and gas facilities. This full-time position demands a blend of hands-on technical skill, meticulous attention to detail, and a steadfast commitment to safety protocols. You will work within a dynamic team, often independently, to diagnose issues, execute preventative maintenance schedules, and respond promptly to operational disruptions. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on oil and gas production equipment, pipelines, and associated control systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and instrument issues in the field.
  • Conduct equipment installations, commissioning, and system upgrades in accordance with engineering specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor system performance, gather data, and report findings to engineering and management teams.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, environmental policies, and company procedures (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, confined space entry, hot work permits).
  • Utilize specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to identify faults and ensure proper system functionality.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory usage.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and be prepared for on-call duties to address urgent operational needs.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, and safety personnel.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations in the oil & gas industry.
  • Proficiency in using specialized hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and challenging environments.
  • Valid German Class B driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training or technical degree in a relevant field (e.g., Industrial Mechanics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics).
  • Experience with SCADA systems and PLCs.
  • Certifications in specific oil & gas safety training (e.g., BOSIET, H2S Alive).
  • Experience with welding or pipefitting.
  • Fluency in German (B2 level or higher).
