Career.zycto is seeking a talented individual to join our dedicated team in Ballyhackamore, Belfast, focusing on Plant Operations & Equipment Repair. This pivotal role involves overseeing the operational integrity of our facilities, implementing preventative maintenance strategies, and expertly diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical issues to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency across all plant systems.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be instrumental in the day-to-day smooth running of our operational assets. Your expertise will directly contribute to our commitment to excellence, safety, and sustainable practices. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of equipment maintenance, from routine inspections and scheduled servicing to emergency repairs and long-term asset management planning. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs for plant machinery and systems.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical failures in a timely and efficient manner.
- Conduct root cause analysis for equipment breakdowns and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and optimization of new mechanical equipment.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to minimize downtime and maximize plant efficiency.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement for critical mechanical components.
- Prepare detailed reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and improvement recommendations.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and junior engineers.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance operational reliability and cost-effectiveness.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proven experience (4+ years) in plant operations, industrial maintenance, or equipment repair.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating machinery.
- Proficiency in diagnosing complex mechanical issues and performing root cause analysis.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all operational protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or working towards chartership (CEng).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques (vibration analysis, thermography).
- Familiarity with specific industry standards relevant to plant operations.
