Key Responsibilities
- Lead incident response activities, including detection, analysis, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-mortem analysis.
- Perform regular vulnerability assessments and coordinate penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
- Monitor security systems (SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS) for alerts and anomalies, conducting thorough investigations.
- Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the design and review of secure architectures for new systems and applications.
- Manage and maintain security tools and technologies, ensuring optimal performance and configuration.
- Provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior security analysts and other IT staff.
- Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, recommending proactive measures.
- Conduct security awareness training for employees across the organization.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during security audits.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
- Strong understanding of network security, endpoint security, cloud security, and application security.
- Proficiency with security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
- Experience with incident response methodologies and digital forensics.
- Expertise in vulnerability management and penetration testing concepts.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, ISO 27001, POPI Act).
- Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Advanced security certifications (e.g., OSCP, SANS GIAC certifications).
