Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications for steel fabrication.
- Cut, shape, and fabricate steel components using various tools and machinery, including grinders, drills, saws, and press brakes.
- Perform various welding tasks (MIG, TIG, Arc) to join metal parts, ensuring strong, clean, and structurally sound welds.
- Operate and maintain workshop equipment and machinery, conducting routine checks to ensure proper functionality and safety standards are met.
- Inspect fabricated products for quality assurance, dimensional accuracy, and strict adherence to design specifications and industry standards.
- Identify and promptly report any defects, inconsistencies, or potential issues in raw materials or fabricated components.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, policies, and workshop procedures at all times.
- Collaborate effectively and proactively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to meet demanding production targets and deadlines.
- Assist in material handling, including careful loading and unloading of raw materials and finished products as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area to optimize efficiency and minimize hazards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Steel Fabricator or Welder Fabricator in a production environment.
- Proficiency in reading and accurately interpreting complex engineering blueprints and technical drawings.
- Expertise in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Arc welding.
- Competence in safely operating a range of fabrication machinery such as shearers, press brakes, and grinding machines.
- Strong understanding of metal properties, various fabrication processes, and structural integrity.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing work with high accuracy.
- Solid knowledge and practical application of workshop safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
- Physical stamina, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift heavy materials as required.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant technical certification or diploma in Fabrication, Welding, or a closely related engineering field.
- Experience with operating CNC (Computer Numerical Control) fabrication equipment.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality control standards in metal fabrication.
- Prior experience specifically in structural steel fabrication projects for construction.
- Valid safety certifications (e.g., working at heights, confined spaces, forklift operation).
