Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our dedicated plant maintenance team in Nairobi. This pivotal role involves ensuring the optimal functioning, longevity, and safety of our clients’ industrial machinery and equipment across various sectors. You will be responsible for executing preventative maintenance schedules, diagnosing complex mechanical faults, performing precision repairs, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will work hands-on with a wide range of mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems. Your daily activities will range from routine inspections and lubrication to responding to urgent breakdowns, dismantling and reassembling components, and fabricating parts when necessary. You will play a crucial role in minimizing downtime, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with all relevant industry standards and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on plant machinery and equipment according to schedules and procedures.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical faults, breakdowns, and operational inefficiencies.
- Execute precision repairs, including dismantling, replacing, or reconditioning faulty parts, and reassembling machinery.
- Conduct installations, alignments, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
- Utilize various hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment effectively and safely.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and environmental regulations at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
- Collaborate with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and operational teams to optimize plant performance.
- Identify and recommend improvements to existing maintenance procedures and equipment reliability.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and machining tasks as required for repairs or modifications.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or similar role in an industrial plant environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, motors, and gearboxes.
- Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical faults and performing precision repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Competence in using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery.
- Understanding of industrial safety standards and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
