Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair various types of irrigation systems including drip, sprinkler, pivot, and subsurface systems.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on irrigation components such as pumps, valves, filters, controllers, and piping.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues in irrigation systems.
- Calibrate and program irrigation controllers to optimize water application based on crop type, soil conditions, and weather data.
- Conduct water audits and system evaluations to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements for water conservation.
- Prepare detailed reports on system performance, repairs performed, and maintenance schedules.
- Provide technical support and training to farm personnel on the proper operation and maintenance of irrigation equipment.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and agricultural best practices.
- Manage inventory of irrigation parts and materials, and coordinate procurement when necessary.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Demonstrable knowledge of hydraulic principles, plumbing, and electrical systems related to irrigation.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting faults in various irrigation components.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
