Job Description

We are seeking an astute and highly organized Logistics Coordinator to join our dynamic team in Stoke-on-Trent. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in managing the end-to-end logistics process, with a strong focus on efficient freight and delivery scheduling. You will act as the central point of contact for carriers, suppliers, and internal departments, ensuring all logistical operations run smoothly, punctually, and cost-effectively. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule freight movements for inbound and outbound shipments, optimising routes and methods for cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Liaise directly with freight forwarders, carriers, and suppliers to negotiate rates, book transport, and confirm delivery schedules.
  • Monitor and track shipments from origin to destination, providing real-time updates and proactively addressing potential delays or issues.
  • Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including customs forms, bills of lading, and delivery notes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse operations to ensure optimal storage and dispatch of goods.
  • Investigate and resolve logistics-related discrepancies, damages, or customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Analyse transportation costs and service levels to identify areas for improvement and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to all national and international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all logistics activities and generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs).

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation coordination.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Strong understanding of freight forwarding, customs procedures, and international shipping regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and work under pressure.
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with import/export documentation and compliance.
  • Familiarity with the Stoke-on-Trent and wider UK logistics landscape.
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., CILT) is a plus.
