Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize daily transport routes using advanced planning software to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
- Allocate vehicles and drivers effectively, ensuring compliance with legal requirements (e.g., driver hours, vehicle weight).
- Monitor live vehicle movements and respond proactively to unforeseen issues such as breakdowns, delays, or traffic disruptions.
- Communicate regularly with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers to provide updates and resolve delivery-related queries.
- Maintain accurate records of transport activities, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery performance.
- Implement and adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring safe working practices across all transport operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in transport planning, route design, and vehicle dispatch.
- Proficiency with transport management systems (TMS) and route optimization software.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network, particularly the West Midlands.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- A qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
