Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate various port machinery and equipment, including forklifts, reach stackers, and cranes (where certified), for the loading and unloading of cargo from vessels.
- Coordinate dockside operations, ensuring optimal berth utilization and smooth vessel turnarounds.
- Manage warehouse inventory, including receiving, storing, organizing, and dispatching goods, maintaining accurate records.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and operational areas, reporting any defects or safety hazards promptly.
- Strictly adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) regulations and company procedures.
- Prepare and verify shipping and receiving documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Communicate effectively with vessel crews, hauliers, customs officials, and internal teams to facilitate seamless operations.
- Assist with the mooring and unmooring of vessels as required.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance operational skills and safety knowledge.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in port operations, logistics, or a similar heavy industrial environment.
- Demonstrable experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, reach stacker) with valid certification.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations pertinent to port and warehouse environments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in various weather conditions.
- Physical fitness for manual handling tasks and extended periods of standing/walking.
- Basic IT literacy for data entry and record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically within a port or marine terminal setting in Aberdeen.
- Valid full UK driving license.
- Knowledge of cargo securing techniques and relevant international regulations.
- Relevant maritime or logistics qualifications.
- First Aid certification.
