Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, patching, and filling.
  • Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
  • Mix and match paint colours to achieve desired shades and finishes.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding and ladders safely, following all safety protocols.
  • Protect surrounding areas and surfaces from paint splatters and damage.
  • Perform minor repairs to walls and surfaces before painting.
  • Conduct quality checks on finished work to ensure high standards and address any imperfections.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and cared for.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and project managers to ensure timely project completion.
  • Undertake general maintenance painting as required for existing properties.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Painter in construction or maintenance.
  • Proficiency in various painting techniques (brush, roller, spray).
  • Strong understanding of surface preparation and finishing.
  • Ability to mix and match colours accurately.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures related to painting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
  • Valid UK driving licence (preferred, but not essential).

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Painting and Decorating or equivalent qualification.
  • CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
  • Experience with specialist coatings or decorative finishes.
  • First Aid certification.
