Job Description

Aquaholics Zanzibar is seeking enthusiastic and energetic individuals to join our team as an Entry-Level Boat Crew Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in marine operations, customer service, and teamwork in one of the most beautiful coastal settings in the world. As a Boat Crew Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe execution of our daily boat excursions, snorkeling trips, and other marine activities. You will work alongside experienced crew members, learning the ropes of boat handling, guest interaction, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance. This role is ideal for proactive individuals who are physically fit, excellent swimmers, and possess a strong desire to learn and contribute to a dynamic team. No prior extensive experience is required, as comprehensive training will be provided. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain and senior crew members with pre-trip preparations, including loading equipment, checking safety gear, and provisioning.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers throughout boat excursions, providing assistance as needed.
- Help with the deployment and retrieval of snorkeling gear, fins, and other watersports equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the boat before, during, and after trips, including washing down surfaces and organizing equipment.
- Assist with basic boat maintenance tasks under supervision, such as cleaning engines, checking fluid levels, and minor repairs.
- Provide excellent customer service, engaging with guests in a friendly and helpful manner, answering questions, and assisting with embarkation/disembarkation.
- Act as a lookout for marine life and potential hazards, reporting observations to the Captain.
- Participate in safety briefings and emergency drills, understanding and executing emergency procedures.
- Support the team in various tasks to ensure efficient daily operations and guest satisfaction.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
Required Skills
- Excellent swimming ability and comfort in open water.
- Good physical fitness and ability to lift moderately heavy equipment.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Positive attitude and strong communication skills.
- Fluency in English (basic Swahili is a plus).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service or hospitality.
- Basic knowledge of marine environments or watersports.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Familiarity with the local area of Paje and Zanzibar.
