Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Delivery Coordinator to join our dynamic team in St. Monica’s, Leribe. As a Delivery Coordinator, you will be the linchpin of our logistics operation, ensuring the efficient and timely distribution of goods from our local hub to various destinations within the Leribe district and surrounding areas. This crucial role involves meticulous planning, coordination, and execution of daily delivery schedules, working closely with our drivers, warehouse staff, and customer service teams. You will be responsible for optimizing delivery routes, managing vehicle allocation, tracking shipments, and resolving any logistical challenges that may arise. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily delivery schedules to ensure timely and efficient distribution of goods.
- Optimize delivery routes to reduce fuel consumption and improve delivery times, utilizing available software and geographical knowledge.
- Allocate vehicles and assign drivers based on load capacity, route efficiency, and driver availability, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with drivers, providing necessary documentation, instructions, and support throughout their routes.
- Track and monitor shipments in real-time using GPS and other tracking systems, providing accurate updates to relevant internal teams and customers.
- Proactively address and resolve delivery issues, discrepancies, delays, and customer complaints promptly and effectively, escalating when necessary.
- Collaborate closely with warehouse staff to ensure accurate picking, packing, loading, and timely dispatch of goods, minimizing errors.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly delivery reports, analyzing performance metrics such as on-time delivery rates, costs, and efficiency.
- Ensure strict compliance with all local transportation regulations, health and safety standards, and company operational policies.
- Assist in the regular maintenance scheduling, inspection, and condition checks of the delivery fleet to ensure roadworthiness and operational readiness.
- Manage and organize all delivery-related documentation, including waybills, proof of delivery receipts, and driver logs, for audit and record-keeping purposes.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in a logistics, dispatch, or coordination role.
- Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
- Thorough geographical knowledge of Leribe district and surrounding areas is essential for route optimization.
- Proficiency in using logistics software, route planning tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel for data analysis).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with diverse teams and customers.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions swiftly.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to identify issues and implement practical solutions.
- A valid driver’s license (Code B or higher) may be advantageous for operational flexibility.
- Fluency in English and Sesotho is a mandatory requirement for effective communication in the local context.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience specifically within the retail or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
- Familiarity with specific GPS tracking systems and advanced route optimization software solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of local transportation regulations and licensing requirements in Lesotho.
