Job Description

The Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC) is actively seeking motivated Farm Pickers to join our thriving agricultural project in Tsikoane, Leribe. This is an immediate hiring opportunity for individuals who are ready to make a tangible impact by ensuring the quality and efficiency of our harvesting operations. As a Farm Picker, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for the careful and efficient harvesting of various crops, which may include vegetables, fruits, and other agricultural produce. Your work will directly contribute to bringing fresh produce to market, supporting local livelihoods, and strengthening our nation’s food supply chain. Key Responsibilities

  • Carefully pick and gather various crops, including fruits, vegetables, and grains, according to specific quality and quantity standards.
  • Sort, grade, and package harvested produce directly in the field or designated areas.
  • Operate and maintain basic farm tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere strictly to all farm safety protocols and food hygiene standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other farm team members to achieve daily harvesting targets.
  • Assist with other general farm duties as required, such as weeding, planting, irrigation support, or crop maintenance.
  • Report any observed crop issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to the farm supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure operational efficiency and safety.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting (up to 20kg), and standing for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure proper crop selection, quality, and minimal waste.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong work ethic.
  • Basic understanding of agricultural safety practices and the importance of hygiene.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions accurately and efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in farm labor, harvesting, or agriculture is an advantage but not strictly required.
  • Knowledge of different crop types and basic harvesting techniques.
  • Familiarity with local farming practices in the Tsikoane/Leribe region.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Sesotho.
