Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct swimming lessons for individuals and groups of varying ages and skill levels.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants at all times, adhering to all facility rules and safety protocols.
  • Provide clear, concise, and engaging instruction on swimming techniques, strokes, and water safety.
  • Assess students' abilities and progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching methods as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding progress and any concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pool area and equipment.
  • Respond to emergencies and administer first aid/CPR if necessary.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and progress records for all students.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a swim instructor or assistant swim instructor.
  • Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED (or willingness to obtain immediately).
  • Current nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification (e.g., DLRG Rettungsschwimmer Bronze/Silber or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and adults.
  • Ability to demonstrate various swimming strokes and techniques effectively.
  • Strong understanding of water safety principles and emergency procedures.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching diverse age groups, including infants, toddlers, and adults.
  • Additional certifications in specialized aquatic programs or coaching.
  • Fluency in German (B1 level or higher) to effectively communicate with local clientele.
  • Previous experience working in a community-based or recreational swimming program.
