Key Responsibilities
- Operate a school bus safely and punctually along designated morning routes.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all student passengers during transit.
- Enforce student conduct rules on the bus in a fair and consistent manner.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and mileage.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and management.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies.
- Perform minor cleaning of the bus interior to maintain a hygienic environment.
- Be prepared to assist students with special needs as required, ensuring their safe boarding and alighting.
Required Skills
- Valid PSV (Public Service Vehicle) driver's license, appropriate for school bus operation in Kenya
- Clean driving record with no major violations for the past 5 years
- Proven experience in driving large vehicles or passenger transport
- Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience and a calm demeanor, especially when interacting with children
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks
- Reliability and punctuality
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience as a school bus driver or similar role
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Knowledge of Imara Daima and surrounding Nairobi routes
- Defensive driving certification
- Experience working with children of various age groups
