Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Surveyor to join our dedicated team in Plaisance, Rose Hill. This critical role involves performing precise land measurement and mapping, playing a pivotal part in the successful execution of our diverse construction and development projects. As a Surveyor at K&M Co Ltd, you will be instrumental in laying the groundwork for future developments, ensuring accuracy and compliance from project inception to completion. You will be responsible for conducting detailed site surveys, preparing topographical and cadastral maps, setting out coordinates for construction, and monitoring structural movements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of surveying principles, modern surveying equipment, and relevant software applications. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive land surveys, including topographical, cadastral, and engineering surveys, using various surveying instruments (total stations, GPS, levels).
  • Perform precise measurements and collect accurate spatial data for various projects, including new constructions, renovations, and land subdivisions.
  • Prepare detailed survey reports, drawings, and maps using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and other specialized mapping tools.
  • Establish and verify control points, benchmarks, and survey grids for construction projects.
  • Interpret and analyze survey data, land records, and legal descriptions to determine property boundaries and rights-of-way.
  • Provide accurate set-out information for civil engineering works, foundations, and building structures.
  • Monitor settlement and structural movements of existing buildings and new constructions.
  • Ensure all surveying activities comply with local regulations, industry standards, and company safety protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and construction teams.
  • Maintain and calibrate surveying equipment, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy.
  • Document and archive survey data efficiently for future reference and compliance.
  • Mentor junior surveyors and assist in their professional development.
  • Regularly visit various project sites across Mauritius to conduct fieldwork.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in operating total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, and digital levels.
  • Strong command of surveying principles, land laws, and regulations in Mauritius.
  • Demonstrable experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) for mapping and drafting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and legal documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driving license and ability to travel to various project sites.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Geomatics, Land Surveying, or a related field.
  • Professional registration or membership with a relevant surveying body in Mauritius.
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial data management.
  • Knowledge of drone surveying and LiDAR technology.
  • Familiarity with project management software.
