Career.zycto is seeking a diligent and proactive Security Officer to join our dedicated team, responsible for maintaining safety and order across various commercial and corporate sites within Roath, Cardiff. This pivotal role involves patrolling both a prominent shopping mall and several professional office environments, ensuring a secure atmosphere for staff, tenants, and the public. You will be the visible deterrent, the reassuring presence, and the first responder in critical situations. Your day will be dynamic, encompassing everything from routine patrols and CCTV monitoring to managing access control, responding to incidents, and providing helpful assistance to visitors. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols across designated mall and office premises to deter crime and ensure security.
- Monitor CCTV systems and alarm panels, promptly escalating and responding to any suspicious activity or breaches.
- Respond effectively and efficiently to alarms, incidents, and emergencies, adhering to established protocols.
- Enforce company policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant environment.
- Provide excellent customer service and assistance to visitors, tenants, and staff while maintaining professional conduct.
- Complete detailed and accurate incident reports, daily logs, and other required documentation.
- Manage access control points, verifying credentials for entry and exit from restricted areas.
- Assist with evacuation procedures and other emergency management duties as required.
- Liaise with emergency services, management, and clients during critical incidents.
- Identify and report potential security risks or maintenance issues.
Required Skills
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) Licence (Door Supervisor or Security Guarding)
- Excellent observational and vigilant skills with a keen eye for detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and interaction
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and act decisively under pressure
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic IT literacy for operating security systems and writing reports
- Demonstrable knowledge of security protocols and emergency procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail or corporate security environments (at least 1 year)
- Valid CCTV Operator Licence
- First Aid at Work certification
- Full UK driving licence
