Key Responsibilities
- Perform general garden maintenance, including mowing, weeding, pruning, hedge trimming, and planting.
- Implement soft landscaping tasks such as preparing flower beds, turfing, and planting trees and shrubs.
- Operate and maintain various gardening tools and machinery safely and effectively.
- Monitor plant health, identify pests/diseases, and apply appropriate treatments.
- Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of all maintained areas, including debris removal.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
- Provide excellent client service and communicate effectively with clients on site regarding work progress and requirements.
- Manage irrigation systems and ensure proper watering of plants as needed.
- Conduct seasonal garden tasks such as leaf clearance, winter preparation, and mulching.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in professional gardening or landscaping (minimum 2 years).
- Strong foundational knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and seasonal cycles.
- Ability to safely and competently operate a range of gardening machinery (e.g., mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers).
- Physical fitness and ability to perform demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving approach to garden maintenance.
- Valid UK driving license (essential for travelling between client sites).
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related field.
- PA1/PA6 certification for safe chemical application.
- Experience with basic hard landscaping elements (e.g., paving, fencing, decking).
- First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of sustainable gardening practices and integrated pest management.
