Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate, research, and report on news stories from conception to publication/broadcast.
  • Conduct interviews with sources, officials, and community members, both planned and impromptu.
  • Attend press conferences, public meetings, and events, often outside standard office hours.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of contacts within the community and relevant sectors.
  • Write accurate, balanced, and engaging news articles, features, and reports under tight deadlines.
  • Capture high-quality multimedia content (photos, videos, audio) for stories when required.
  • Verify facts and information from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and credibility.
  • Adapt content for various platforms including web, social media, and traditional print/broadcast.
  • Adhere strictly to journalistic ethics, legal guidelines, and company editorial standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with editors, producers, and other team members to enhance story output.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proven ability to research, investigate, and report on complex topics accurately and objectively.
  • Strong interviewing and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Demonstrable experience in breaking news and feature writing, with a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools for research, writing, and content management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent understanding of journalistic ethics, media law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel extensively within London and surrounding areas.
