Job Description

As a Plant Safety Assistant, you will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of safety management, from assisting with safety inspections and incident reporting to helping develop and deliver safety training programs. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting regular safety inspections and audits of the plant facilities and equipment to identify potential hazards.
  • Help maintain and update safety documentation, including incident reports, safety data sheets (SDS), and training records.
  • Support the investigation of minor workplace incidents, near misses, and accidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Aid in the development and delivery of safety training materials and presentations for employees on various safety topics.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by actively engaging with employees, answering safety-related questions, and encouraging safe work practices.
  • Monitor compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and other relevant environmental health and safety standards.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to ongoing safety improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic understanding of safety principles and practices (e.g., through coursework or personal interest)
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced industrial environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or currently pursuing)
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour General Industry certification
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Previous experience or coursework related to manufacturing safety
