Key Responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher in planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons and educational activities.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or English as an Additional Language (EAL).
- Help create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Monitor student progress, record observations, and provide constructive feedback to the class teacher.
- Prepare and organise classroom resources, displays, and equipment to support learning objectives.
- Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and during off-site educational visits.
- Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and positive behaviour management strategies.
- Foster positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and guardians.
- Undertake administrative duties such as photocopying, filing, and maintaining student records.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development programmes.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 6 months experience working with children or young people in an educational or childcare setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Demonstrable patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative team member.
- Strong organisational skills and the capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Basic understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the varying needs of students and the classroom environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 NVQ/CACHE) or equivalent.
- Experience implementing SEN support strategies or working with EAL students.
- Familiarity with the UK primary or secondary school curriculum.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to a diverse school community.
- First Aid certification or willingness to obtain one.
