Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled tradespersons (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.) with various tasks as directed by the site supervisor.
  • Load, unload, and safely transport construction materials, tools, and equipment to designated areas on site.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work site by diligently removing debris, sweeping, and ensuring proper waste disposal according to regulations.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently under direct supervision, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Perform manual labor tasks such as digging trenches, spreading gravel, moving earth, and general site preparation.
  • Erect and dismantle temporary structures, including scaffolding, barricades, and safety netting, with proper guidance.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and provincial health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Assist in the precise setup and efficient tearing down of work zones and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth project flow and address any immediate concerns.
  • Perform other general labor duties and responsibilities as assigned by the site supervisor to support project completion.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including repetitive lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to punctuality.
  • Excellent ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and a willingness to learn more.
  • Positive attitude, adaptability, and an eagerness to contribute.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions common to Montreal (hot, cold, rain, snow).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a construction, manufacturing, or other manual labor role (even short-term or volunteer projects).
  • Possession of a valid ASP Construction safety card (Carte d'Accès aux Chantiers de Construction).
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable personal transportation to and from the job site.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a valuable asset for communication on site.
