Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Full-Time Arborist to join our team, focusing on the breathtaking Sanssouci Park area in Potsdam. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to play a pivotal role in preserving the historical and ecological integrity of one of Germany’s most significant cultural landscapes. As an Arborist with Career.zycto, you will be instrumental in the proactive management, health, and safety of a diverse collection of trees, ranging from ancient specimens to newly planted saplings within this UNESCO World Heritage site.
Your day will involve a variety of challenging and rewarding tasks, from intricate pruning and canopy management to comprehensive tree health assessments and emergency response. Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced tree climbing, rigging, pruning (fine pruning, structural pruning, crown reduction), and removal using industry best practices and safety standards.
- Conduct comprehensive tree health assessments, identifying pests, diseases, and structural weaknesses, and implement appropriate treatment plans.
- Operate and maintain a variety of arboricultural equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and aerial lifts, ensuring their safe and efficient use.
- Lead or assist with tree planting, transplanting, and establishment programs, including soil amendment and watering regimens.
- Respond to storm damage and emergency tree situations, ensuring rapid and safe resolution.
- Collaborate with park management and horticultural teams on long-term tree management plans and special projects.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines.
- Provide expert advice and communicate effectively with team members and, occasionally, the public regarding tree care issues.
- Maintain accurate records of tree work performed, observations, and recommendations.
Required Skills
- Certified Arborist (ISA or equivalent recognized certification)
- Minimum 3 years (36 months) of professional experience in arboriculture
- Proficiency in advanced tree climbing and rigging techniques
- Thorough knowledge of tree biology, identification, pruning standards, and pest/disease management
- Competency in operating and maintaining arboricultural equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts)
- Valid Class B (or equivalent) driver's license
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and hazard identification in tree care
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- European Tree Worker (ETW) certification or equivalent German qualification
- Experience working in historic parks, botanical gardens, or public green spaces
- Knowledge of German native tree species and local ecological systems
- Advanced first aid and CPR certification
- Proficiency in German language (B1 level or higher)
- Experience with advanced tree risk assessment methodologies
