Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive turf management programs tailored to specific site requirements and seasonal changes.
- Oversee all daily turf maintenance activities, including mowing, irrigation scheduling, fertilization, pest and disease management, aeration, and topdressing.
- Manage and maintain irrigation systems, ensuring optimal water usage and system efficiency.
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of groundskeepers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Conduct regular inspections to assess turf health, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Manage budgets for turf operations, including procurement of supplies, equipment, and services.
- Operate and maintain a variety of turf care equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, chemical applications, and equipment servicing.
- Collaborate with other department heads to ensure seamless operations and aesthetic harmony of the facility.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Turf Manager or similar role in a professional setting.
- In-depth knowledge of turfgrass science, including soil science, entomology, pathology, and weed control.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining turf care equipment (mowers, aerators, sprayers, etc.).
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) techniques and sustainable turf practices.
- Fluent in English (German language skills are a plus).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Turf Management, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., pesticide applicator license, certified golf course superintendent).
- Experience with advanced irrigation control systems.
- Familiarity with local flora, fauna, and environmental regulations in Brandenburg.
- Proficiency in German language.
