Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret, verify, and dispense prescription medications, ensuring correct dosages, labeling, and patient information.
- Provide comprehensive patient counseling on medication use, potential side effects, drug interactions, and storage instructions.
- Maintain meticulous records of all dispensed medications, patient profiles, and controlled substances in strict compliance with local health regulations.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating medications, while minimizing waste and ensuring product integrity and expiration dates.
- Supervise and train pharmacy technicians and support staff, ensuring adherence to best practices, company policies, and professional standards.
- Conduct medication therapy management reviews and identify potential drug-related problems or opportunities for improved patient outcomes.
- Participate in health promotion and disease prevention activities, offering advice on over-the-counter medications and general wellness.
- Ensure the pharmacy environment is clean, organized, and compliant with all health, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Resolve patient concerns and complaints professionally and efficiently, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Stay updated with the latest pharmaceutical developments, clinical guidelines, and regulatory changes through continuous professional development and training.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensed Pharmacist in Mauritius or eligible to obtain a license without delay.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-registration experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting.
- Profound knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, pharmaceutical calculations, and drug interactions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French (Mauritian Creole is a significant advantage).
- Strong patient counseling and interpersonal skills with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing and record-keeping.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced retail pharmacy environment.
- Proficiency in using pharmacy management software and general computer applications (e.g., MS Office Suite).
