Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to join our growing team in the Manchester area, focusing specifically on critical infrastructure and road construction projects. This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented engineer to play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and delivering robust, sustainable, and future-proof civil engineering solutions that will connect communities and enhance urban mobility. You will be instrumental in the full project lifecycle, from initial feasibility studies and detailed design through to site supervision and project completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the detailed design of civil infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, drainage systems, and associated earthworks, using industry-standard software.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and tender documentation in accordance with UK design standards and client requirements.
  • Conduct site investigations, surveys, and assessments to inform design decisions and identify potential risks or opportunities.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources efficiently, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within financial parameters.
  • Ensure strict adherence to relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations (e.g., CDM Regulations, DMRB, MCHW).
  • Liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, local authorities, and third-party contractors, providing expert advice and resolving technical queries.
  • Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring designs are implemented correctly and standards are maintained.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and client presentations, representing Career.zycto with professionalism and technical expertise.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering, with a proven track record in infrastructure and road construction projects.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of UK design standards, regulations, and codes of practice (e.g., DMRB, MCHW, Sewers for Adoption).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of preparing clear reports and presenting complex information.
  • Full UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE) or actively working towards it.
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodologies and software.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM PMQ).
  • Experience in client relationship management and business development activities.
