Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Hydrologist to join our dynamic team in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin. In this pivotal full-time role, you will be instrumental in addressing critical water resource challenges, contributing to projects that range from urban water management and flood protection to sustainable land development and climate change adaptation. You will apply your deep understanding of hydrological processes, hydrogeology, and water quality to deliver insightful analysis and practical solutions that positively impact our environment and communities.

As a Hydrologist at Career.zycto, you will be engaged in the full lifecycle of various water-related projects. This includes conducting detailed hydrological modeling, managing extensive datasets, and performing complex statistical analysis to predict water flow, assess water availability, and evaluate the environmental impact of development projects. Your work will involve field investigations, data collection using state-of-the-art equipment, and the interpretation of remote sensing data to build comprehensive hydrological models. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrological and hydraulic modeling for various water resource projects, including flood risk assessments, drainage design, and water quality studies.
  • Perform data collection, analysis, and interpretation of hydrological, meteorological, and geospatial data.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and project documentation for clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (engineers, environmental scientists, urban planners) to integrate hydrological considerations into broader project designs.
  • Utilize GIS and remote sensing techniques for spatial analysis and mapping of water resources.
  • Develop and implement water management plans, sustainable drainage solutions (SuDS), and climate change adaptation strategies.
  • Participate in field investigations, site visits, and monitoring programs to gather essential data and validate models.

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with hydrological modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, MIKE SHE, MODFLOW).
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial data analysis and visualization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., Chartered Hydrologist).
  • Experience with programming languages for data analysis (e.g., Python, R).
  • Knowledge of German water-related regulations and environmental policies.
