Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Network Engineer – Connectivity, Security & Support to join a dynamic team in Stockport, Manchester. This pivotal role involves the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex network infrastructures, ensuring optimal performance, robust security, and seamless connectivity for critical business operations. You will be instrumental in managing LAN/WAN environments, firewall configurations, VPN solutions, and providing expert-level support to resolve network-related issues promptly. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable network architectures (LAN/WAN, VPNs, Wi-Fi).
- Configure and manage network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize speed and reliability.
- Administer and troubleshoot network security systems, including intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and content filtering.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, processes, and security policies.
- Respond to and resolve network incidents, providing advanced technical support and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with IT teams on project deployments, system integrations, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Implement and enforce security best practices to protect network infrastructure and data.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical network support as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in network engineering roles, including design, implementation, and support.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS).
- Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent network devices.
- Proficiency with firewall technologies (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point).
- Experience with VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN) and remote access solutions.
- Knowledge of network monitoring tools and performance optimization techniques.
- Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification.
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python scripting).
- Experience with SD-WAN solutions.
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP).
