Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking passionate and knowledgeable freelance Tour Guides to lead captivating experiences for visitors exploring the stunning Duncans, Trelawny region and beyond. As a freelance guide, you will be the face of Jamaican hospitality, responsible for crafting and delivering memorable tours that showcase the rich history, vibrant culture, and breathtaking natural beauty of our island. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead engaging, informative, and safe tours for individuals and groups across various locations in Duncans, Trelawny, and surrounding areas.
  • Share in-depth knowledge of local history, culture, ecology, landmarks, and current events in an accessible and entertaining manner.
  • Ensure the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of all tour participants throughout the duration of the tour.
  • Manage all tour logistics, including scheduling, route planning, transportation coordination (if applicable), and timely execution.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, anticipate guest needs, and address any concerns or issues promptly and professionally.
  • Adapt tours and commentary to suit the interests and demographics of diverse groups.
  • Act as a professional and enthusiastic ambassador for Jamaica and the local community.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local attractions, events, and regulations.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional verbal communication and public speaking skills.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Extensive and verifiable knowledge of Duncans, Trelawny, and Jamaican history, culture, and geography.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and interact positively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated passion for travel, tourism, and sharing local insights.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish, German, French).
  • Certification or diploma in Tourism, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • Valid Jamaican driver's license with a clean driving record, if guiding tours requiring personal or rental vehicle operation.
  • Specialization in niche tour areas such as eco-tourism, adventure tourism, historical tours, or culinary experiences.
  • Previous experience working as a freelance professional.
