Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Cloud Engineer with a strong background in AWS, Azure, and traditional server deployment to join our growing team in Castlefield, Manchester. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructures across multiple platforms for our diverse client base. You will work on exciting projects that span the entire cloud lifecycle, from initial concept and architecture design through to deployment, optimization, and ongoing support.
Your day-to-day will involve a blend of strategic planning and hands-on technical execution. You will leverage your expertise in AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, and Azure services including Virtual Machines, Azure SQL Database, Azure Functions, and Azure Networking to deliver high-performance solutions. Beyond cloud, you will also be involved in maintaining and deploying on-premise server environments, ensuring seamless integration with cloud resources where appropriate. This includes configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of Windows and Linux servers, alongside an understanding of virtualisation technologies like VMware or Hyper-V.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions using AWS and Azure.
- Perform hands-on deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Windows and Linux servers (physical and virtual).
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager.
- Monitor cloud and on-premise environments, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.
- Ensure security best practices are implemented and maintained across all managed environments.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, providing timely resolution and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and external clients.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, tools, and industry trends.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, IAM)
- Proven experience with Azure services (Virtual Machines, Azure SQL, Azure Networking, Azure AD)
- Strong understanding of server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux distributions like Ubuntu/CentOS)
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM Templates)
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash)
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, Firewalls)
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant AWS or Azure certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator Associate)
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Azure Monitor)
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
- Understanding of database administration principles (SQL, NoSQL)
