Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health & Safety Officer to lead our safety initiatives within our bustling industrial estate in Junction, St. Elizabeth. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health and safety programs, policies, and procedures aligned with local and international standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments across various industrial operations to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending preventative measures.
- Organize and deliver essential health and safety training for all employees, ensuring awareness and competence in safe work practices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant occupational health and safety legislation, including OSHA and local Jamaican regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, training sessions, and safety-related documentation.
- Lead emergency preparedness and response planning, including evacuation drills and first aid protocols.
- Advise management on safety-related issues, providing expert guidance on new equipment, processes, and facility modifications.
- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the industrial estate through communication campaigns and engagement activities.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure adherence to site-specific safety requirements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, local Jamaican laws).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in incident investigation.
- Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and implement effective control measures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with ISO 45001 management systems.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Specific experience in a diverse industrial estate with heavy machinery, chemicals, or complex processes.
