Key Responsibilities
- Operate passenger buses safely and efficiently along designated routes within West Bromwich and surrounding areas.
- Adhere strictly to published timetables, maintaining punctuality and minimizing delays.
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting passengers with inquiries, directions, and ensuring a pleasant journey.
- Handle passenger fares and tickets accurately, including operating ticketing machines and validating passes.
- Conduct thorough pre-service vehicle checks, reporting any mechanical defects or safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers, including those with special needs, by operating accessibility equipment as required.
- Manage challenging situations or passenger incidents calmly and professionally, following company protocols.
- Maintain a clean and tidy bus environment throughout your shift.
- Comply with all traffic laws, company policies, and health & safety regulations at all times.
- Communicate effectively with depot control, supervisors, and colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
Required Skills
- Valid UK PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) driving license (Category D or D1)
- Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Minimum of 1 year of professional bus driving experience
- Excellent knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
- Good geographical knowledge of West Bromwich and surrounding areas
- Proven punctuality, reliability, and a responsible attitude
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with route planning software or GPS systems used in public transport.
