Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Port Operator with a strong focus on Dock & Warehouse Coordination to join our thriving operations in Brierley Hill, Birmingham. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate daily dock operations, including scheduling incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Oversee the efficient loading, unloading, and securing of cargo from various transport modes (trucks, rail, etc.).
- Monitor and manage warehouse inventory, ensuring accurate record-keeping and optimal storage utilisation.
- Implement and enforce strict health and safety regulations, conducting regular inspections and promoting a culture of safety.
- Operate and supervise the use of material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, reach trucks) safely and efficiently.
- Liaise with internal teams, drivers, and external partners to resolve operational issues and ensure smooth workflow.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including manifests, bills of lading, and inventory reports.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Port Operator, Warehouse Coordinator, or similar logistics role.
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations within a logistics environment.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Valid forklift and/or other material handling equipment licenses.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of coordinating diverse teams.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Logistics Operations or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with Customs procedures and international shipping documentation.
- Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma principles in a logistics context.
- First Aid certification.
