From operating industrial dishwashers to manually washing larger items, you will ensure a constant supply of clean crockery, cutlery, and cooking equipment. Managing waste disposal, ensuring recycling is correctly sorted, and maintaining a tidy bin area will also be part of your routine. Beyond cleaning, you will assist with stock rotation and replenishment, making sure ingredients and supplies are readily available for the chefs. This position demands a proactive approach, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and sanitary workspace. You will work closely with the kitchen team, supporting chefs and cooks in their daily duties, contributing to a harmonious and productive atmosphere. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain industrial dishwashers and manual washing stations to ensure all crockery, cutlery, and kitchen equipment are impeccably clean.
  • Efficiently manage waste disposal, including segregating recyclables and ensuring all bin areas are clean and tidy throughout the shift.
  • Assist with stock management, including receiving deliveries, rotating stock to minimize waste, and replenishing supplies in designated storage areas.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of all kitchen areas, including floors, work surfaces, and kitchen appliances, adhering strictly to health and safety regulations.
  • Support the culinary team by assisting with basic food preparation tasks such as washing and peeling vegetables, when required.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, breakages, or health and safety concerns to the kitchen management promptly.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those relating to food hygiene, health and safety, and environmental standards.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle physical demands of the role.
  • Strong understanding of hygiene principles and food safety standards.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar hospitality role is highly advantageous.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 1 or 2).
  • Familiarity with various kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
